Online classes can simplify testing the students by presenting and grading the tests automatically. However, are students actually being assessed. What proof do instructors have that a student actually took the test, for instance? How is a closed-book test proctored?
Grading for testing and homework becomes a larger task with a larger number of students. However, the system simplifies with the concept of the team. Teaching assistants that monitor the same online and classroom lectures as the students can work as a team in student evaluation. Attendance at the lecture means they are also more prepared to direct any scheduled weekly discussion, should the class have one.
In most hybrid classes, the bulk of the budgetary constraints are directed towards the main lecture rather than the laboratory.
